Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I get a library card?
A. Your first Library card is free for Cannon County Residents. Identification with your
name, current address, and phone number is required.

Q. How long may I keep a book?
A. Books maybe checked out for 2 weeks (14 days). As long as books are not on a
reserved or waiting list, you may renew the books for an additional 2 weeks. There is a
limit of two renewals periods per book.

Q. How long may I keep a DVD?
A. DVDs may be checked out for 1 week (7 days). As long as DVDs are not on reserve
or a waiting list, you may renew DVDs for an additional 7 days.  There is a limit of two
renewals periods per DVD.

Q. How long may I keep an audio book?
A. Audios are checked out for 2 weeks with the same renewal options as books.
Up to 5 audio books per cardholder may be checked out at one time.

Q. Where do I return library materials?
A. Books, DVDs, Audio books may be returned to the circulation desk during business
hours or the Book Drop at both library locations. Hotspots must be turned into the
Circulaton Desk during business hours.

Q. May I reserve an item if it is checked out?
A. Yes. You may reserve items in person at the Circulation Desk at either library or online.
We will notify you when the item is available and will hold it 7 days.

Q. What is Inter-Library Loan?
Inter-Library Loans are books borrowed from a library outside of Cannon County. We are
part of the Tennessee State Pulbic Library System and you are able to borrow books
from libraries accross state. In general, books need to have at least a 6-month publication
date in order to borrow from another library. Genealogy and Reference items are
unavailable through Inter-Library Loan.

Q. What are fines for overdue material?
A. Audio books, books, and magazines are subject to a fine of 10 cents per day, excluding
holidays or special closings. DVDs and Hotspots are subject to a fine of $1.00 per day,
excluding holidays or special closings.

Q. Can reference books be checked out?
A. Reference books cannot be check out. A photocopier is available at both locations
for 15 cents per page.

Q. Do you offer computers and WI-FI?
A. Yes. We have computers and WI-FI at both locations. Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher,
Access, and PowerPoint are available on all public computers. There is no charge
for using the computers or Wi-Fi, and is on a first-come, first-served basis. We also
have mobile Hotspots available for check out.

Q. Do you offer Fax services?
A. Yes. Faxing is available at both locations. Long Distance is $1.00 for first page and
50 cents for each additional page. Local and Toll Free are 50 cents for the first page and
25 cents for each additional page. If you want to receive a fax at any location, it is 1.00 per page.

Q. How old do I have to be to get a card?
A. Children five to 16 years of age may set up an account with the ID and signature of
their parent or guardian. The parent or guardian must be present at the time the account
is opened.

17 years of age and older may open an account with proper ID.

Q. What if I lose my card?
If a card is lost or stolen, a replacement card is available for $2.00 .
Q. Fines?
A. If a patron's fines exceed $5.00, he or she will not be alllowed check out privileges
until they have brought their account below the $5.00 limit.
Q. How do I set up a PIN number to reserve books online?
A. Just call or stop by Adams Memorial or Auburntown Branch. The PIN must be 4 to 8
numbers, letters, or a combination of both. PIN will be available after patron's information
is put into publication system.
