WELCOME TO THE CANNON COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
E-Book Checkouts are Booming!
Borrow an e-book from your library!
E-books are available to be downloaded to a number of popular e-reader devices, including the Kindle, as well as the iPad and smart phone devices. To get started click on "R.E.A.D.S Regional E-Books” to access the OverDrive down load center of the Cannon County Library System.
You must have a valid library card in good standing to borrow digital items—overdue books and fines will prevent you from logging in. Also- be sure to log in with your borrower number and PIN before beginning your search to ensure that you have access to the hundreds of additional titles and copies that we make available to CCLS cardholders to shorten your waiting period for popular items. We will soon have developed brochures with instructions to help you with the download process. Click on the link below to read more about using your device.

To celebrate Leap Year’s extra day on Wednesday, February 29th, 2012, the libraries are offering a special deal for one day only! If you have materials that are overdue that you haven’t returned (possibly because you didn’t want to find out how much your fine was), you can return them on February 29th to either the Auburntown Branch Library or the Adams Memorial Library in Woodbury and you will not have to pay a fine. It will be waived. So find those long overdue items and come to the library for your fine free return. This money-saving deal does not apply to replacement cards or fines that are already posted on your account. We hope to see the return of some much-missed materials.

It is never too late to begin to trace your family tree. We have lots of new genealogical materials to help you and are receiving more items all the time. Peggy Tate, our super-skilled volunteer is available from 9 a.m. through 2 p.m. on Thursdays to help you.

Chess enthusiasts looking for a place to test their skills against human opponents will be able to say "checkmate” soon at Adams Memorial Library. If you are interested in playing or learning to play chess, please email: adamschess@gmail.com

Federal Income Tax forms are available now at both library outlets. Not all of the forms have been received yet, but we do have plenty of copies of the Form 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ ready for you to pick up.

If you haven’t investigated this website, please do. It is a valuable resource that is already paid for via your tax dollars. www.tntel.info is the Tennessee Electric Library. There are test preparation resources, resume writing help, consumer health information and so much more available for your use. Please help us pass the word about this wonderful service and resource.
The Cannon County Library System is pleased to announce the upcoming Shared Integrated Library System. One of the first 25 libraries in the state to sign up for the new system. Making it into the first group will save us substantial money by making us eligible for extra state aid to pay for setup and first year charges. This new system will be much more powerful and will allow our patrons to easily search for library materials around the state. Also connected to this project is a courier service to transport library materials being loaned among libraries. This service is projected to begin sometime next summer.
For those who received e-readers as Christmas gifts, don’t forget to take a look at the items available when you click on the blue R.E.A.D.S. icon on our homepage at www.cannnoncolibrary.org. You can find free downloads of titles for your NOOK or Kindle, as well as audio books for your MP3 player and other devices. Titles offered will tell onto which devices they can be downloaded. Remember that you can place holds on items you would like to "read” which are presently in use and get an email when they are available.

The popular Tennessee Career Coach will again be visiting the Adams Memorial Library on April 11th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no charge for their services and no appointment is necessary. Let them help you modernize your resume, hunt for jobs and give you interview skill tips. Also, just come by to see this interesting vehicle paid for by your tax dollars.

We are planning ahead for spring at the library! You can mark your calendars ahead for the workshop given by the Tennessee Alzheimer’s Association in the meeting room of the Adams Memorial Library at 1 p.m. on April 4th. This is going to be an informative workshop for anyone with questions about this troubling health issue.
